Units from 21 & 42 were alerted to a box alarm in Company 42’s first due. Engine 842B arrived on scene to find smoke showing from a garden apartment in the Southview apartment complex. The volunteer crew made entry into the fire apartment led by Volunteer Deputy Chief L. ARMSTRONG, V F/F N. EPPS Jr. on the pipe, made quick attack of a kitchen fire which started by unattended cooking. The scene was under command of Deputy Chief Epps Sr. The remainder of the volunteers included Driver F/F D. SMITH, Bar F/F E. Epps, Probationary S. Huddleston and two F/F’s from Boulevard Heights who came to run calls with Oxon Hill. No injuries were reported and damage was contained to apartment of origin. Good job to all!
