Units responded to a reported house on fire in the 3000 blk. of Henry Ave., Temple Hills, Md. at about 14:30hrs. Due to new dispatch system there was some confusion to the responding units getting to the location and properly dispatched. First units arrived with “fire showing” from the alpha, bravo and Charlie sides of the home. Occupants confirmed that all made it out the home with the exception of one dog. Initial attack was hampered by water supply issue causing crews to back out and regroup. One volunteer firefighter from our company exited with 2nd burns to his ears during this time. Units continued to make the interior attack and bringing the situation under control and recovering the deceased animal. A second firefighter was injured during this incident with 2nd degree burn to his arm. Both firemen were taken to the burn center, treated, released and will be back at it soon. The fire was started by unattended cooking which caused significant damage to the home.
